Takashi Tsukamoto to star in next Ryo Kurashina drama adaptation

TBS has revealed that it plans to broadcast a drama adaptation of the Ryo Kurashina manga "Teio." The show will star actor Takashi Tsukamoto (26), playing his first lead role in a series on a major commercial network.

The "Teio" manga was serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine. The main character is a young man (Tsukamoto) whose girlfriend is taken away by the #1 host of a club. With his strong beliefs and power of friendship, he winds up also becoming a host, looking to challenge the title of #1.

Kurashina has already had three other mangas about the host club industry turned into live-action dramas: "Yaoh" (2005), "Jyouou" (2005), and "Jotei" (2007).

Tsukamoto has already appeared in dozens of dramas, and last year he landed his first starring role in a series with "Kansahoujin" on the public broadcaster NHK. However, this will be his first lead part in a series on commercial television.

"Teio" will air late at night on Wednesdays (12:29am), starting on July 15.

Shoni Kyumei

The medical drama "Shoni Kyumei" highlights a major problem in recent years - there has been a steady decline in the number of pediatricians in Japan, making access to proper health care for children more difficult to find as hospitals close their pediatrics departments. In this series, Manami Konishi stars as a doctor at one such hospital. The story follows her struggles as she leaves to establish a new hospital dedicated to providing 24-hour emergency care for children.

Other Cast: Takashi Tsukamoto, Ryo Katsuji, Sayaka Yamaguchi, Tomonori Jinnai, Ren Osugi

Tsukamoto Takashi

Tsukamoto Takashi in Yesterdays

You can click on the picture above to go to the movie's official website! Anyway, one of my favourite actors, Tsukamoto Takashi stars in this movie called Yesterday. It opened on Saturday, and the movie cast had its official press conference yesterday in Tokyo.
The caption in the movie poster above says, "Today, tomorrow, and the day after, inside me, there's only you." (literal translation sounds very crass)
